A pleasant day bonding with Iggy at Buon Giorno and 8 Suites, Tagaytay

I love the food at Buon Giorno so today being a long weekend -- Iggy and I decided to drive up to Tagaytay to have lunch at Buon Giorno at the Cliffhouse. On our way to Tagaytay -- I was already thinking of what to order.... I wanted something we haven't tried yet... As soon as we got there-------lady luck was on my side!!!!!  I was able to get the last table available for an early lunch. We got a table outside--  The day was actually too nice to lock ourselves inside the air-conditioned restaurant --- in fact it was the same table Iggy and I got the last time we ate here 2 months ago. The much talked and written about " opium bed " of Buon Giorno was inviting but I found it too far out into the corner to tempt me to actually eat there.

We had to spend 15 minutes sifting thru their menu trying to decide what would we try out today....  I took the plastic menu and let my eyes wander over the familiar terms and dishes.... Ohhh my !!!! There were so many good things I wanted to eat ( all at the same time ).. haha!   so this is what we had for lunch.

INSALATA AI FRUTTA DI MARE ( seafood salad )     246 PHP

MINESTRA DI SPINACI  ( Spinach soup )    134 PHP

PARMA HAM WITH SEASONAL FRUITS      258 PHP

CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO TORTE       168 PHP

Buon Giorno is a restaurant which is not hyped compared to some other restaurants in Tagaytay --- but it can offer one of the best Italian dishes. It is simply mouth-watering, tummy filling and .... yes, the most important of all ..... it is really " value for money ".  Their service was very fast... the waiters were efficient ... that means plus points to anyone who wants good fast service.

If you ever plan to visit the country's second summer capital , Tagaytay City, make sure you go to Buon Giorno Cafe and Bistro at the Cliffhouse, Tagaytay.  It is everything I could have asked for from a destination restaurant..... good food... great ambience... and affordable prices.....  However, their outdoor tables are much sough after, so I suggest you should not try to push your luck in going to Buon Giorno like we did... it is always better that you call ahead and make reservations for a good table. Their number is ( 046 ) 413 2102.

HOW TO GET TO BUON GIORNO ---

From the rotonda, turn right heading towards Nasugbu. Just before the Petron gas station , you will see colorful street lights on your left, and the sign THE CLIFF HOUSE.  Buon Giorno is located within the CLIFF HOUSE, a cluster of restaurants along the main road of Tagaytay.

OUR NEXT STOP........... 8 SUITES HOTEL..

After our lunch, Iggy and I decided to drive to check out new places where we can stay for a weekend. We found this quaint little hotel called 8 SUITES. It is a boutique hotel located in Barangay Iruhin, Tagaytay City. This boutique hotel provides guests with 8 uniquely designed, chocolate-themed rooms. Built with modern luxury that will make guests feel at home.

They have 3 deluxe rooms, 3 premier rooms and 2 suites. I was able to see one of their rooms.

I love the view of the Taal Lake from the balcony of one of their rooms.

  1. We stayed at 8 Suites last year, two couples occupying 2 of the biggest suites each then another couple and a single guest occupying 2 of the next-to-the-largest suites.

    Disappointing.

Food was slow and horrible. Coffee was the worst I've had in my life. Service was very "ganyan po talaga ang hot water namin" only to turn out that the water heater wasn't in fact on for the first two out of three days we were there.

Such a bummer for quite a nice place.
