The ART of Dale Chihuly

While in Las Vegas over the weekend I was able to go and visit the art exhibit of Dale Chiuly. His glass sculptures are awesome !! If you are planning to visit Las Vegas. Why not drop by his exhibit and see his wonderful glass sculptures! I was able to view his works at the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip. An encounter with Dale Chihuly's works is always a reminder that glass is not just something to see through or drink out of.

Dale Chihuly was born in Tacoma, Washington. He was introduced to the world of GLASS ART while he was studying interior design at the University of Washington. He is known as the Glass Sculptor of America. In 1976, Chihuly figured in a terrible car accident which he flew through the windshield of his car. His face was severely cut and he was blinded in his left eye. After he recovered from his accident, he continued to blow glass until he dislocated his shoulder in a surfing accident... Today Chihuly can no longer hold the glass blowing pipe. He conceptualizes each art work with paint and canvas and then he employs a team of glass blower artists like himself to execute his one of a kind art designs. His largest and permanent glass art is found in the Museum of Art in Oklahoma City.

Once on an interview when he was asked to describe himself, he said, " more choreographer than dancer, more supervisor than participant, more director than actor".

Dale Chihuly is now widely recognized as the world's premier glass artist. His works can be found in over 150 museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre, the Tacoma Glass Museum and the Whitney Museum.

I would like to share with you some of his art pieces which I can call  glass masterpieces ..

You walk past as Chihuly Chandelier and you know it is a Chihuly! His artworks are so beautiful ... I wish I wish I could have some of his sculptures in my house!! His sculptures really do seem to belong in nature, which is part of their appeal to me.

He is singularly responsible for pushing glass as a medium of an art into the public domain. His work produces a wide range of dramatic visual and emotional effects from " LOOK AT THAT !" to " WOW! " ....

There is indeed a Chihuly signature style!! There is no doubt that Dale Chihuly is the foremost studio glass artist alive !

DALE CHUHILY--- WHAT A GUY ! WHAT AN ART !!
